Alex Drijver rejoined ThalesNano as CEO in July 2016. In April 2015 was appointed as the CEO of ComInnex, Thalesnano's sister company after 7 years as CEO of ChemAxon, a leader in providing chemical software development platforms for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Mr. Drijver was a founder and CEO of ThalesNano where he had a number of operating roles at the company between 2002 and 2007. Earlier he was Chief Financial Officer at ComGenex Inc. and Vice President of ABN AMRO Bank in London, and then Budapest.

Before joining ABN AMRO, Mr. Drijver worked in different financial and investment related positions in London for 10 years. He is the holder of the R&D 100’s Award and the Hungarian Venture Capital Association’s SME of the Year Award and served on the Board of the Pistoia Alliance (a cross industry alliance to bring down barriers to open innovation in pharmaceutical research IT) from 2010 to 2015.


Richard Jones of ThalesNanoRichard Jones was appointed as the CCO of ThalesNano in July 2016, and was the former CEO since April 2012. Before holding this position, he was responsible for product direction and user experience for the entire line of ThalesNano instruments. He joined ThalesNano in July of 2004 where he started as Chief Research Chemist, helping to develop the chemistry on the H-Cube® and other flow reactors. He then went on to become Product Manager of the R&D 100 Award winning H-Cube® before becoming Director of Product Management.

Prior to ThalesNano, Richard was at Biofocus Discovery and worked on the synthesis of several Kinase and GPCR inhibitor based compound libraries. Richard studied chemistry at the University of Bristol where he graduated with honors in 1999.


Gábor Szirbik holds two masters degrees in engineering. He obtained his chemical engineering masters degree from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2010. He also received a masters degree from École Central de Lille in 2011, specialized in general engineering (Ingénieur Généraliste) through a European scholarship program, TIME (Top Industrial Managers for Europe).

Gábor joined ThalesNano in 2009 and coordinated the CatCart development and production for three years. He joined development projects in 2010; since 2012 he is Head of Proof of Concept Development team which is initiating and leading new developments at ThalesNano. Since 2010, he is project manager and represents ThalesNano at the European Union Seventh Framework Program PolyCat.
