Hydrogenation can be utilized for synthesis of UV sensitive floor coatings. Reduction of the aromatic rings in certain compounds such as bisphenol A diglycidal ether makes them less susceptible to UV damage increasing longevity. This is, however, a very difficult reaction that requires high temperature and pressure. Our H-Cube Series has capabilities of reaching 150°C and 100 bar safely with no need for hydrogen cylinders. The systems have been routinely demonstrated to reduce phenyl groups in 1 pass cleanly using catalysts such as RuO2 or Rh/C as catalyst.
